๐ Hardcore World Rebirth
Welcome to Gumdum Hardcore.
Hardcore is Minecraft with much higher stakes. You get one life in each world. If you die, your adventure in that world is over.
But the story does not end forever.
Every Hardcore world is part of the Chronicles, and when one world reaches the end of its story, a new world can be born.
We call that a Rebirth.
๐ What Is a Rebirth?
A Rebirth is a complete fresh start for the Hardcore world.
The old world is closed and preserved as part of our history. Then a brand-new version of the world is created using the same Minecraft seed.
That means:
- Everyone begins again together.
- Everyone comes back alive.
- Everyone starts in a fresh world.
- Old builds, bases, chests, farms, and items are gone.
- The history of the previous world is kept in the Chronicles.
- Your past accomplishments are not erased from history.
Think of each world as a chapter in a very long Minecraft story.
When one chapter ends, we turn the page.
๐ The Normal Hardcore Cycle
Gumdum Hardcore normally follows a monthly fresh-start rhythm.
Each world gets its own time to shine.
Players explore, build, survive, compete, die spectacularly, and occasionally discover that gravity remains undefeated.
At the end of the world's run, the current story closes and a new Hardcore world begins.
But there is also another way a world can end early.
โณ The Five-Day Rebirth Clock
If the Hardcore world becomes quiet, a five-day Rebirth clock can begin.
The clock lasts:
5 full real-world days
or
120 continuous hours
This clock is based on activity from players who are still alive in the current Hardcore world.
โค๏ธ What Keeps the World Alive?
If a living Hardcore player is still playing, the five-day clock does not finish.
Examples include:
- A living player joins the server.
- A living player continues playing.
- A living player is currently connected to the server.
Any new activity from a living player starts the five-day quiet period over again.
Example
Suppose nobody plays for four days.
Then a living player joins Minecraft and plays for a while.
The five-day clock starts over.
The world now needs another five full days without living-player activity before an early Rebirth can happen.
โ ๏ธ What About Players Who Already Died?
Dead players are treated differently.
If you died during the current Hardcore world, you may still be able to visit, spectate, or connect depending on the current world rules.
However:
A dead player's activity does not restart the five-day clock.
That means a fallen player logging in does not keep an otherwise empty Hardcore world alive forever.
The Rebirth clock is based on players who are still alive.
๐ What If the Last Living Player Dies?
This is where things get interesting.
If the final surviving player dies, there are no living players left to keep the world going.
Their death can become the starting point for the Rebirth clock.
However, there is an important exception.
If the world had already gone five full days without qualifying living-player activity, and the final living player then dies, the world does not need to sit empty for another five days.
In that situation, the Hardcore world can begin its Rebirth process within about five minutes of the final death.
The old story has ended.
Time for a new one. ๐
๐ฑ What Happens During Rebirth?
When the Rebirth happens, the current Hardcore world itself is replaced.
A new Minecraft world is created using the same seed.
So the land may feel familiar, but everything players changed is gone.
That includes things such as:
- Houses
- Castles
- Mines
- Farms
- Villages you changed
- Chests
- Stored items
- Player inventories
- Ender Chest contents belonging to that world
- Nether builds
- End builds
- Tunnels
- Roads
- Redstone machines
- That suspicious dirt hut you promised was temporary
The land begins again.
๐ Same Seed, New Adventure
A Rebirth normally keeps the same Minecraft seed.
The mountains, oceans, caves, villages, and other natural features may therefore appear in familiar places.
But the world itself is fresh.
Imagine rebuilding civilization on the same planet after everything created by players has disappeared.
You may know where that village is.
You may remember where diamonds were found.
You may even remember exactly which cliff killed you.
Whether remembering the cliff actually helps is between you and the cliff.
๐ท๏ธ The World Gets a New Name
Every Rebirth becomes the next chapter of that world's story.
For example:
Minecart Madness
may be followed by:
Minecart Madness II
then:
Minecart Madness III
and so on.
This helps players tell the different versions of the world apart while keeping them connected as part of the same Chronicle.
โค๏ธ Everyone Is Reborn
A Rebirth is not just a new map.
It is a full Hardcore rebirth.
Players who died in the previous world are returned to living-player status for the new world.
Everyone receives another chance.
You do not remain permanently dead just because you died during the previous world.
New world.
New life.
New opportunities to absolutely not dig straight down.
๐ What Happens to My History?
Your previous Hardcore story is not erased.
The server keeps the historical information needed for the Chronicles and player history.
That can include things such as:
- Previous worlds
- Chronicle history
- Player accomplishments
- Past deaths
- Leaderboard history
- Major events
- Previous world results
A Rebirth starts a new adventure without pretending the old adventure never happened.
Your death still happened.
We have receipts. ๐
๐ What Are the Chronicles?
The Hardcore Chronicles are the history books of Gumdum Hardcore.
They tell the story of the worlds that came before.
Each world can become another chapter containing its players, victories, disasters, deaths, strange discoveries, and memorable moments.
Instead of treating a reset like someone simply pressed a delete button, we treat it as the ending of one story and the beginning of another.
๐ Rebirth Does NOT Reset Everything
A Hardcore Rebirth only affects the Hardcore world that is being replaced.
It does not reset the entire Gumdum Minecraft community.
For example:
- SMP is not reset.
- The SMP world is not touched.
- The Minecraft servers still use their normal connection methods.
- Console friend connections continue normally.
- The website and Chronicles remain.
- Historical player information remains.
- Unrelated Minecraft services are not part of the Hardcore Rebirth.
Hardcore and SMP are separate worlds.
What happens to one does not automatically happen to the other.
๐ข How Will Players Know?
When possible, players will be warned before a planned Rebirth.
If you know a world is approaching its end, it is a good time to:
- Take screenshots.
- Record a video tour.
- Visit your favorite builds.
- Finish a final adventure.
- Check the leaderboard.
- Say goodbye to your base.
- Hold one last celebration.
- Leave a final sign somewhere dramatic.
Once the new world has successfully started, an announcement can also be made through the Gumdum Minecraft community channels.
We do not announce a new world as ready until it is actually ready for players.
๐ What Should I Save?
For memories, save things outside Minecraft.
Take screenshots or videos of anything you want to remember.
Do not expect items stored inside the old Hardcore world to move into the new world.
A Rebirth is intentionally a fresh start.
Everyone begins the new adventure on equal footing.
๐งญ Rebirth in Plain English
If all of this still sounds complicated, here is the short version:
Hardcore gives you one life.
The world normally gets a fresh start as part of its regular cycle.
If living players stop playing for five full days, the world may become eligible for an early Rebirth.
Dead players logging in do not restart that clock.
If the final living player dies after the world has already been quiet long enough, Rebirth can begin within about five minutes.
The old world ends.
A fresh world using the same seed begins.
Everyone comes back alive.
The old world's history remains in the Chronicles.
And then...
