๐ŸŒฑ Rebirth

A Rebirth is Aterra Hardcore's way of giving a quiet or finished world a fresh beginning before the normal monthly Seedshift.

Last updated Aug 10, 2026 by Calvin Ellis

Seedshift happens because the Chronicle reaches its scheduled ending.

Rebirth happens because the world itself has run out of living activity.

The old story is preserved.

The world begins again.

โณ The Five-Day Rebirth Clock

Aterra watches for activity from players who are still alive in Hardcore.

If no living player activity is seen for:

5 full real-world days

120 continuous hours

the world can become eligible for Rebirth.

A living player returning resets that five-day clock.

So if the world has been quiet for four days and a surviving player comes back to play, the countdown starts over.

The realm still has a survivor.

Its story continues.

โ˜ ๏ธ What About Fallen Players?

Players who already died do not keep the Rebirth clock alive.

A fallen player may still visit or spectate when the current Hardcore rules allow it, but their presence does not restart the five-day countdown.

Rebirth watches the players who are still alive in the current generation.

๐Ÿ’€ When the Last Survivor Falls

There is also a faster ending called Fast Extinction.

If the final living player dies, and no additional living player joined during the previous five full days, the world can become eligible for Rebirth immediately.

The goal is to have the new world ready within about five minutes after that final death, once the reset is safely completed and the new world is confirmed ready.

The final survivor can keep playing right up until the end.

Their own activity does not cancel Fast Extinction.

In plain English:

โค๏ธ One survivor remains.

๐ŸŒ™ Nobody new joins for five days.

๐Ÿ’€ The final survivor dies.

๐ŸŒ… Aterra can begin Rebirth.

If another living player joins before the Rebirth actually begins, the early reset is cancelled.

The story suddenly has another character.

๐ŸŒŽ The Same Land Is Reborn

Rebirth creates a completely fresh Hardcore world using the same Minecraft seed.

That means familiar parts of the landscape can return:

  • Mountains
  • Oceans
  • Villages
  • Caves
  • Biomes
  • Ancient cities
  • That cliff everyone now knows not to jump from

But player-made changes do not return.

The land is familiar.

The civilization is gone.

๐ŸŽ’ Everyone Starts Fresh

Physical possessions from the previous world do not cross into the new one.

Players begin without their old:

  • Inventory
  • Ender Chest contents
  • Armor and equipped items
  • Off-hand items
  • Experience levels
  • Experience progress
  • Temporary status effects

Rebirth is meant to give everyone a genuine new survival start.

No secret diamond stash tucked behind the dimensional curtain. ๐Ÿ’Ž

โค๏ธ Everyone Is Reborn

This is where Rebirth earns its name.

When the new generation successfully begins, everyone in Aterra's recognized Hardcore player history returns as alive for the new generation.

Players who survived remain alive.

Players who died are alive again.

But their old deaths are not erased.

Both things remain true:

โ˜ ๏ธ You died in the previous world.

โค๏ธ You are alive in the new one.

Aterra remembers the old story while allowing you to start another.

๐Ÿ“œ Your History Survives

Rebirth resets the world, not your legacy.

Important history remains, including things such as:

  • Player identity
  • Previous deaths
  • Chronicle history
  • Lifetime accomplishments
  • Approved long-term statistics
  • Awards
  • Past worlds and generations

Your inventory does not survive Rebirth.

Your reputation might.

For better or worse.

๐Ÿท๏ธ Reborn Worlds Get a New Generation Name

Each Rebirth continues the name of the world that came before it.

For example:

Minecart Madness

becomes:

Minecart Madness II

then:

Minecart Madness III

then:

Minecart Madness IV

The Roman numeral tells players which generation of that world they are entering.

Same family.

Same seed.

Brand-new adventure.

๐ŸŒฟ SMP Is Not Affected

Rebirth belongs only to Hardcore.

It does not reset the SMP world.

SMP homes, towns, builds, inventories, and progress remain separate.

๐ŸŒฟ SMP keeps growing.

๐ŸŒฑ Hardcore can be reborn.

๐Ÿ“ข When Is Rebirth Complete?

A countdown reaching zero does not automatically mean the new world is ready.

Aterra must first make sure the fresh world has started correctly and is safe for players to enter.

Only after the new Hardcore world is successfully confirmed can the Rebirth be announced to the community.

So if the clock reaches the end, give Aterra a moment to turn the page. ๐Ÿ“–

๐Ÿงญ Rebirth in Plain English

Hardcore goes quiet for five full days?

๐ŸŒฑ Rebirth may begin.

The last survivor falls after five days without another living player joining?

๐Ÿ’€ Rebirth can happen much sooner.

What comes back?

โค๏ธ The players ๐Ÿ“œ Their history ๐ŸŒŽ The same seed

What does not?

๐ŸŽ’ Their stuff ๐Ÿฐ Their builds โ›๏ธ The old world

The land begins again.

The fallen rise.

And another generation of Aterra gets its chance.

๐Ÿฎ The world forgets the blocks. Aterra remembers the story.
