Understanding Claim Blocks

What Are Claim Blocks?

Claim blocks are currency for protecting your land. Think of them as invisible fences that keep griefers out.

Important: Claim blocks only measure surface area (2D). Vertical protection is automatic and unlimited!

• 1 claim block = 1 square meter of surface
• All claims automatically protect from bedrock to sky (Y=-64 to Y=320)
• You earn claim blocks by playing on the server

Claim Size Examples

How to Earn Claim Blocks

• Starting blocks: 100 (enough for your first 10×10 claim)
• Playing: 100 blocks per hour of active play
• Daily average: 100-400 blocks (depends on your playtime)
• Maximum: 80,000 accrued blocks

Example: Play 4 hours = earn 400 blocks = expand your 10×10 to 20×20!

️ Creating Your First Claim

Step 1: Get Your Tools

You need two items:

1. Golden Shovel (claim tool) - Right-click to mark corners
2. Stick (inspection tool) - Right-click to view claim info

Step 2: Choose Your Location

• Build away from spawn (spawn area is already protected)
• Check with a stick that the area isn't already claimed
• Make sure you have enough blocks for your desired size

Step 3: Mark Your Corners

1. Hold your Golden Shovel
2. Right-click the ground at one corner (you'll see glowstone/gold blocks appear)
3. Walk to the opposite corner
4. Right-click the ground again
5. Your claim is created! Gold blocks and glowstone mark the boundaries

Visual borders will fade after a moment, but your claim remains protected!

Checking Claims

Using the Inspection Tool (Stick)

• Right-click any block with a stick
• Shows if it's claimed, by whom, and how many blocks it uses
• Right-click with an empty hand to see your own claims highlighted

Type /claimslist to see:

• All your claims with coordinates
• How many blocks each uses
• Your remaining available blocks

Trusting Friends

Let your friends build in your claim without removing protection!

Pro Tip: Use /accesstrust for friends who just visit, and /trust for co-builders!

Managing Your Claims

Resizing a Claim

1. Use Golden Shovel on an existing corner (it turns glowstone)
2. Right-click a new location to expand or shrink
3. You must have enough blocks for the new size!

Deleting a Claim

• /abandonclaim - Delete the claim you're standing in
• /abandontoplevelclaim - Delete claim + all subdivisions
• /abandonallclaims - Delete ALL your claims (️ use carefully!)

You get your claim blocks back when you delete claims!

Subdivisions (Advanced)

Create smaller protected areas inside your main claim:

1. Stand in your claim
2. Type /subdivideclaims
3. Use Golden Shovel to mark subdivision corners
4. Trust different people in different subdivisions
5. Type /basicclaims to return to normal mode

Use case: Make a public farm area in your claim, but keep your house private!

What Claims Protect Against

Claims PROTECT You From:

• Griefers breaking/placing blocks
• Chest theft and item stealing
• Animal killing
• PvP combat inside your claim
• Creeper explosions
• TNT damage
• Fire spread
• Lava/water griefing
• Crop trampling

Claims DON'T Protect:

• Outside your boundaries - only the claimed area is safe
• Your items if you die - use chests!
• Natural disasters - but explosions in claims are blocked
