The Final Stand ⚔️🌅

When The Last Bell is acknowledged, the outgoing Chronicle does not disappear in a puff of server dust. Instead, Aterra enters The Final Stand.

The Final Stand keeps the old world online with PvP active for at least eight hours. This gives players time to fight, explore, settle grudges, create new grudges, and say farewell to the world before replacement begins.

Timing rules

The Final Stand clock begins from the authoritative Last Bell acknowledgement, not from a browser click, a guessed timestamp, or a YAML file hiding under the stairs.

The Chronicle administration page stores and displays:

  • Last Bell date and time
  • Final Stand duration
  • earliest permitted world-replacement time
  • remaining duration
  • current readiness or blocking reasons

The default duration is eight hours, and administrators cannot configure less than eight hours.

What happens if the next world is not ready

Nothing destructive.

If the Final Stand has elapsed but no valid, approved staged world is ready, the outgoing world remains online and PvP remains in its post-Bell state. The system displays the exact reasons replacement is blocked.

No replacement world means no replacement. The void is not an acceptable map seed. 🕳️
